The World at Large

The descending sun spooks me, As it reminds me of impending doom. The fate of the world hanging on  the joker wearing the crown. A game of deceit and endless conspiracies, Rigged to make the hidden emerge strong. ‘Come one come all’ The sign bellows. Not one peasant decided to enjoy the menu. They are sinking to fall in their own broken ship. All towing to head into the dark abyss. We enjoy playing the game when it is, Someone else who’s head will twirl if they miss. But when the trigger loads and the target is us. When the bullet wants to grab hold on us. We run so far, without a hitch. We run to never stop to check. What happened to those who tried to save us? What happened to the joker who longs for love? What happened to the magician, is he still sick? The old man, next door, did he get his tip? The world of our species amuses me. To see the world move by so cheap. The moon is now out. It winks at me. The stars shining bright following me. The world beyond our species, Fascinates

Tied.

The world is hidden from my sight, With only words of violence dampening my light. Pictures and puzzles are all a maze, Perpetual vision lost in the gaze. Complexities through issues arise, Leading me to tan out my facial stride. Holding back my power from them I feel the greed and anger begin to devour my head. Slowly as though, a mountain flare. I see myself battling glares. Slowly as though, a shadow queen, I find myself battling gleam. Hoping for a paradise, In a world of chambered hell I lost my sight in this mighty prison cell. Taken away, pulled apart. All that’s left of me is a murky dot. Hidden under a masked veil. What must I do but wait and conceal? What must I do but not reveal? As the world is hidden from my line of eye, And the conmen have risen. My hands are tied.  -M

Flickering flame - A moth's tale (Entry for Silverleaf weekly poetry competition)

A flicker of flame minutes away, Draws my gaze towards it. I see the end, flapping my wing Ashes burn from my hell. A misty haze, traps my face My eyes begging for mercy. What does man know?  Of the pain of us folk? What can they do, but despise us? They say we are monsters, Just for our appearance. They conspire against us, Like we are brutal forces. But aren’t we just creatures, Just like them.  If they want to kill us,  What does it make of them?  - Mahathi.S

I would

If I could show you all the hidden beauty, That you hide from yourself, I would. If I could show you how your words changed the lives, Of people going through pain and strife, I would. If I could show you the enchantress hidden within you, gliding with magic and life, I would. If I could ever tell you of all the time you held yourself together, like breaking glass from a vase desperately hanging together. If I could ever show you the kaleidoscope within you, blooming colours and flowers wherever you set foot. And if I could show you the world within you, believe me, I truly, truly would. - Mahathi.S

The broken sky...

Running through the fallen meadows/ I see the broken sky. A tinge of red paints the end, with a single golden strand/ Touches of yellow, gold and amber dance with lively fame/ The Archer's gift reigns amiss, as the world falls to disdain / With the corner of my eye, I catch the broken sky, and all it's hidden shadows, waiting to grow into priceless shows and dance with lively fame... - Mahathi.S

Divergent Inspired Poem

Dauntless eyes that beat simulations, Staring gaping in silent dalminations Fears as few as four and six, Helping, holding, hoping for a fix. Abnegation hearts that no longer tremble, At the sight of wars and the death that follows. Prior and Eaton, a dangerous pair. But what more can the world do but take a chance? Divergence was once a curse on all, They learned to rise and insurge them all. At the end they fell into clasped hands, With their allegiance forsaken, And Tris dead. A tale of a Stiff who grew into their queen, A tale of friendship and its ripe seeds. A tale of love and a ferocious battle, Between man and science, With a result no one could fathom. - Mahathi.S .

Heart pounding, pens cracking, Ink spreading, anxiety rising, Phone locked, contacts blocked, Don’t talk to me! Exams are up… Revise, Revise, Revise! Piles of worksheets and pages, Oh lord please have mercy, Exams will soon begin - Mahathi.S
